Fine bar

It starts as 19 g of fine platinum, 999.5. Pure platinum is too soft to hold a setting.

Draw the wire

Poured into a steel mould to cast a rod, then pulled through smaller and smaller dies into wire. The making charge starts here.

Shape

Cut, bent round a mandrel and soldered shut into a bangle.

Decorate

Granules, engraving and set stones, by hand. Stones are billed on top of the metal.

Polish and hallmark

Polished, assayed and stamped PT950 inside the band. Pt950 means 95% platinum.

      What does Pt950 platinum mean?
Pt950 is 95% platinum, usually alloyed with ruthenium or palladium, and is the standard for platinum jewellery; pieces are stamped PT950. On 7 Nov 2026, 950 platinum in Ajman is AED 173.21 a gram and AED 5,387.41 for a troy ounce.
Is platinum the same as white gold?
No. White gold is gold alloyed with white metals and usually plated with rhodium, which wears off with time and needs redoing. Platinum is white right through and needs no plating, which is part of why it costs more as jewellery.

Not today: on 7 Nov 2026, a gram of fine platinum in Ajman is AED 182.33 and of 24K gold AED 487.75, so platinum is 63% cheaper a gram. Platinum jewellery can still cost more than gold: platinum is about 11% denser, so the same design weighs more, Pt950 is purer than 22K gold, and it is harder to work, so making charges are higher.

It has decreased by AED 0.08 a gram (0.05%) since yesterday, to AED 182.33. The platinum rate in Ajman follows the international platinum price, converted at the AED exchange rate. Much of it goes into catalytic converters for cars, and most is mined in South Africa, so car sales and mine supply move it.
How much has the platinum price in Ajman changed in a year?
Platinum is up 0.3% over the last twelve months. The price history graph on this page goes back ten years.
What will the platinum rate in Ajman be tomorrow? Will it increase or decrease?

Do these platinum rates include tax?
No. VAT of 5% and the jeweller's making charge are added on top. The calculator on this page adds both.
How often is the platinum rate in Ajman updated?
At midnight, 6 am and 6 pm India time, and every 15 minutes through the morning while the day’s rates are published, so a change shows within minutes. The date in the page title is the day the rates are for.
